European season in Spain this weekend, the team is

Tilt Poker sign sponsor deal with Formula 1 team -
7th May 2010
Full Tilt Poker just announced they have signed a
sponsor deal with the Formula 1 racing team Virgin
Racing. The deal will already be in effect this weekend
at the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix at Barcelona’s
Circuit de Catalunya, where the drivers from Virgin
Racing will be wearing the Full Tilt Poker logo.
Consequently
fans of Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi can look forward
to see the two team Virgin Racing drivers wearing
the Full Tilt Poker brand, which will also be present
on the drivers’ cars and other team material
from Virgin Racing team.
According
to both brands the deal concludes a long term discussion
dating back to Virgin Racing’s birth in Formula
1 last November. In their joint press release yesterday
both Team Full Tilt member, Chris Ferguson, and Virgin
Racing chief executive officer, Graeme Lowdon, expressed
great excitement about the new partnership and looked
forward to launching their cooperation this weekend
in Spain.
Although
the partnership between Full Tilt and Virgin Racing
was seemingly long underway, it has likely been speed
up as part of the more long term strategy from Full
Tilt Poker, who has increased its marketing effort
in Europe over last months in light of the increasing
competition from rivals PokerStars and Party Poker
over the European market.
Conveniently
for Full Tilt Poker the deal came just shortly after
Party Poker also signed with Toro Rosso’s driver
Jaime Alguersuari and former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo
Fisichela. A signing, which was part of a more aggressive
strategy from Party Poker, in light of the increased
competition and losses in revenue on the European
poker market recently.
Interestingly
enough Full Tilt Poker has chosen to launch their
Partnership with Virgin Racing on same date Party
Poker chose to launch their new sponsorship with Alguersuari.
Party Poker even offers their players a chance to
win tickets for the Valencia Grand Prix through their
poker room, which might be turn out to be free marketing
for Full Tilt Poker in the end.

Extending
its reach outside of the poker world, Full Tilt Poker
announced a new sponsorship deal that should expose
the room to millions around the world.
In
a statement on the team’s website on Thursday,
Formula One racing team Virgin Racing announced that
it had reached a sponsorship deal with the second
largest online poker room in the industry. The “poker
school” arm of the company, FullTiltPoker.net,
will be a major sponsor of the team, with its logo
prominently featured on the driving suits, team apparel,
and cars of Virgin Racing’s two drivers, Germany’s
Timo Glock and Brazil’s Lucas di Grassi. No financial
details were reported in the announcement, although
principal sponsorship of an F1 team goes in the neighborhood
of $15 million.

World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event winner Chris
Ferguson spoke on behalf of Full Tilt Poker during

Virgin
Racing is in its inaugural season as a part of the
Formula One series. Other top companies such as tire
supplier Bridgestone, information technology company
UST Global, environmental technology firm Carbon Green,
shampoo brand Clear, information technology firm CSC,
foreign exchange traders FxPro, clothing company Kappa,
the Oxigen investment group, and Russian sports car
manufacturer Marussia are also team sponsors. Although
the team seems to have solid sponsorship, its performance
on the track has been less than stellar to this point
in the Formula One season.
After
four races of the F1 season in Bahrain, Australia,
Malaysia, and China, the team’s two drivers have
not been able to crack the top ten in any race. Glock
has been knocked out of the first three races and
failed to qualify for the event in China, while di
Grassi has a 14th place finish in Malaysia on his
record as his best effort. To this mark in the F1
season, neither has earned any points towards the
Formula One Driver’s Championship, currently
led by England’s Jenson Button. Glock will start
21st in this Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona
and di Grassi will start 22nd.

Tilt Poker has been one of the most aggressive online
poker sites when it comes to sponsorship of sporting
events. The Full Tilt logo has graced the apparel
of many mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters and has
also been emblazoned on the ring apron of many MMA
fights. In April, Full Tilt Poker also used its “dot-net”
arm to enter into a sponsorship deal with Australia’s
National Rugby League. The Full Tilt logo is not new
to racing, as it appeared on the Mazda RX8 of Bergenholtz
Racing’s Joon Maeng in February during the 2010
Formula Drift season’s stop in Long Beach.
While
these sponsorship deals may seem odd, the goal for
Full Tilt Poker is just like any other company that
sponsors events or teams – get its name in front
of as many eyes as possible. By teaming up with Formula
One and Virgin Racing, Full Tilt Poker will be exposed
to approximately 500 million fans per race, which
includes the worldwide television audience and fans
in attendance at the respective tracks.

Virgin
Racing is a Formula One racing team, which made its
debut in the 2010 Formula One season. They were granted
entry as Manor Grand Prix on 12 June 2009, as one
of four new teams selected to race in the 2010 season.
On 30 November, the FIA released a revised entry list
that stated the team's name as Virgin Racing. Richard
Branson's Virgin Group is the title sponsor of the
team, which was launched on 15 December 2009.
History
Formation
The team was formed as Manor Grand Prix as a tie-up
between Manor Motorsport and Wirth Research. Initially,
Virgin's Alex Tai was the Team Principal, while Graeme
Lowden was the team's Director of Racing. Manor Motorsport
boss John Booth was the Sporting Director, while former
Simtek team owner Nick Wirth was the technical director.
Less than one month after the Virgin partnership was
officially launched, Tai left his position and Booth
took over as team principal, with Lowden becoming
the CEO. The team will use engines supplied by Cosworth.
Manor Motorsport are best known as a Formula Three
team, currently running in the Formula Three Euroseries,
and helped launch the careers of World Champions Kimi
Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton. Car preparation
and racing operations will be run from its headquarters
in Dinnington, South Yorkshire, while Wirth Research
will design, develop and build the cars from its base
in Bicester.
The
teams also have plans to create a "Driver Academy",
a series of racing teams starting in the new GP3 Series
and advancing all the way up to Formula One.
2010
2010 Formula One season

Virgin's
car for 2010, the VR-01, is the first F1 car designed
entirely using CFD computer simulation technology.
It was later discovered that the Virgin VR-01's fuel
tank is too small, resulting in them not being able
to finish any races unless the cars are driven at
a reduced pace to conserve fuel. The team has been
given the opportunity to redesign the chassis. On
17 November 2009 it was announced by the team that
former Toyota driver Timo Glock would be the team's
lead driver for the 2010 season. The driver was signed
for two years and has a one year extension offer as
well. Long-time Brazilian GP2 regular Lucas di Grassi
will join him, while fellow former GP2 driver Luiz
Razia will fulfil testing and reserve duties. Álvaro
Parente was also signed as a test driver, but left
the team prior to the launch of the VR-01. The 2010
car was officially launched on their website on 3
February 2010, before running the car at a private
event at Silverstone the following two days.
Sponsorship
Virgin purchased eighty percent of the team, as part
of sponsorship arrangement. The official FIA entry
list for 2010 announced on 30 November 2009 showed
that Manor GP had been entered as Virgin Racing. The
team's partners for 2010 include tyre supplier Bridgestone,
IT services company UST Global, environmental technology
company Carbon Green, shampoo brand Clear, information
technology firm CSC, foreign exchange traders FxPro,
clothing company Kappa, the Oxigen investment group
and Russian sports car manufacturer Marussia. On 13
January 2010, reports emerged revealing that Virgin
had paid an extra one and a half million pounds to
Cosworth to have the CA2010 unit rebranded as a Marussia,
though both Virgin Racing and Cosworth have denied
the story.
On
14 December 2009, Lloyds Banking Group announced that
it had invested ten million pounds in the team, reversing
the recent trend of financial institutions such as
ING and RBS withdrawing sponsorship. However, it remains
unclear as to whether or not the Lloyds logo will
