This
week on the ultra hip and cool AEW Dynamite show, it was announced that boxing
living legend Iron Mike Tyson will be appearing at AEW's long awaited
Double Or Nothing. You read correctly. Pumped!
Tyson
will present the TNT Championship to either Cody Rhodes or "The Murder Hawk"
Lance Archer. Tyson is a life-long pro wrestling fan and has appeared on WWE presentations
a few times over the decades including at their showcase event WrestleMania.
Tyson
was scheduled to appear as a special referee on the then WWF's The Main Event
broadcast via NBC in 1990 but plans were canned out after losing to Buster Douglas
in Japan.
In
1998, Tyson was one of the key factors for WWEs turn of fortune verses World
Championship Wrestling when he was involved in a storyline with DX and "Stone
Cold" Steve Austin. He has also made cameo and guest hosting appearances
on WWE TV in recent years.
Tyson
has gotten himself into great shape of late as this Facebook and various social
media footage has shown and has teased returning to do exhibition boxing matches
for charity.
Should
all go well with the AEW appearance he very well could be welcome back - at the
right price (which appears to be a well well guarded secret at present). Likely
only a couple of people in the world know the figures involved at that would include
Tyson, Cody Rhodes, Tony Khan (All Elite Wrestling president) and the respective
accountants.
All
Elite Wrestling could do with a secret weapon and heat seeker, and by all accounts
"Iron Mike" sure fits the bill.
The
Media Man agency expects this development to see a massive spike in AEW ratings
leading into the event as well on main event day which is due to be broadcast
on both FITE TV and Bleacher Report Live.
Pro
wrestling fans have been looking for some extra excitement and additional star
power, and this development sees All Elite Wrestling over delivering.
Back
to Stamford, Connecticut and New York now to see if there's any return fire or
in the powers that be are just playing it cool. Could be something in the wind
for the likes of Hulk Hogan, John Cena, or even an up and coming major talent
like Matt Riddle. Time to unleash "The Beast" Brock Lesnar again soon.
Let's the friendly wrestling wars continue. Folks, stay turned. You won't want
to miss a moment of the action.
