Gambling911.com
is located in beautiful Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada.
It's so cold there in the winter, the polar bears
try clawing their way into our dedicated server room.
We have operated from Lloydminster since August 2002
and our tech crew there has won some of the most prestigious
awards in all of Canada.
Lloydminster
is a Canadian city which has the unusual geographic
distinction of straddling a provincial border. Unlike
most such cases, Lloydminster is not a pair of twin
cities on opposite sides of a border which merely
share the same name, but is actually incorporated
as a single city with a single municipal administration. The
provincial border runs north to south, falling directly
on 50th Avenue (Meridian Avenue) in the centre of
Lloydminster. Addresses east of 50th Avenue are considered
to be in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan and addresses
west of 50th Avenue are considered to be in Lloydminster,
Alberta. At latitude 53°17' north, it is Saskatchewan's
northernmost city.
According
to a 2005 municipal census, the population is estimated
to be 23,632. Due to Lloydminster's beginnings as
an anti-alcohol Utopian society, alcohol was not available
in Lloydminster for the first few years after its
founding. The early Utopianists believed that drink
was the single most destructive factor in society.
They were right! During peak traffic periods, our
tech geek extraordinaire is known to throw down a
shot or two, or three or four, especially in the winter
time. The average temperature during the winter is
-30°C (-22°F) *Please note the minus sign.
Gambling911.com
is a website of extremes and nowhere is this better
reflected than in our two extremely different locales.
Gambling911.com's parent company, Costigan Media LLC,
is located in beautiful Miami Beach, right on the
beach. All those bad words that Gambling911.com star
reporter, Jenny Woo, writes are originating in Miami
Beach, edited out there, then sent off to Lloydminster,
Alberta, Canada where they are then disseminated to
millions and millions of homes across the globe via
the world wide web. Some of our critics kindly refer
to this as "pollution". Gambling911.com
publishes 24 hours a day, most of which consists of
original content.
Gambling911.com
has been known to receive upwards of 5 million hits
in a given day from all over the world. Our unique
traffic count at times closes in on 100,000 daily.

Casino
Attacks Continue in Australia - 26th August 2009
Unfortunately
more serious casino news out of Australia.
News
Limited and wires report the latest in a string of
attacks and bashings in and around Australia's land
based casinos and gambling dens.
FORMER
AFL star Jonathan Hay was attacked and kicked in the
face in an apparently random attack at Crown casino.
Hay
was celebrating his 30th birthday with friends when
a gang of seven thugs forced him to the ground just
after 2am Sunday.
The
former All-Australian fullback suffered bruising and
a cut to the head in the latest episode of mindless
CBD violence.
It
would appear on the surface that online casinos, online
casino portals and the like, are gaining another advantage
from their land based cousins by default. Of course
online casino don't have actual muggers, however one
still needs to watch out for online casino strings
and low acts, like they type that were documented
on the United States version of 60 Minutes last year.
I
would like to see Crown Casino offer an online casino
portfolio, perhaps showcase by a Kerry Packer themed
game. PartyGaming of course has a Frank Sinatra and
The Godfather slot, so why not a Packer game?
PartyGaming's
PartyPoker, Noble Poker, and Euro Partners Titan Poker,
and a few other brands, are offering satellites to
the Poker Cup at Crown Casino later this year beginning
in September. Let's just hope the live events are
incident free. Insiders are looking to confirm if
Mike Sexton, Phil H, Chris Moneymaker, Daniel "Kid
Poker" Negreanu,
Annie
Duke, Phil Hellmuth, Tony G are likely to attend.
Those individuals may or may not add to aggressive
play et al on location. Folks are extremely interested
to see if poker Doyle Brunson will turn up, as Mr
Brunson has been in a war of words with some of the
folks at Party over the past few years, and the world
in the street is that Party is interested to talk
serious shop with the powers that be at Crown (and
Star City). It's got all the makings of a real life
battle royal, and a serious mix of personalities.
You can bet that Crown's James Packer will have security
at an all time high, comparative to when Tom Cruise
and Katie Holmes stayed at Crown a few months ago.
It's
in Crown's best interest to beef up security to protect
its customers, visitors and reputation.

Internet
Gambling Makes Push in Asia Pacific Region - 22nd
July 2009
The
past month has seen a surge of both established and
not so established Internet Gambling and other gaming
companies make a push into the Asia Pacific region.
Greg Tingle, Special
Contributor to the Gambling911.com
website and Australian correspondent, takes a look
at the Internet gambling sector in that region. He
also looks at the online poker component. Tingle is
also the proprietor of Media
Man out of Australia.
It
appears apparent that some of the gaming entities
have more than just a casual interest in Australia,
judging by some of the game titles. Try "Goanna
Gold", "Cool Bananas", "Kangaroo
Zoo", and "Shaaark" on for size!
PartyGaming
saw some of their PartyCasino.com
titles enjoy a rise in popularity as Tom Cruise (Mission:
Impossible and Top Gun) fame, and his partner, Katie
Holmes, have been spending time in Melbourne, using
James Packer's Crown Towers as a base.
Aspinalls
are making a push with their Aspinalls Online Casino
and Aspinalls Online Poker. Aspinalls have quite a
colourful history, with the late, great, John Aspinall
said to have ties and friendships with Australia's
Packer family. In recent years it has been reported
that Australia's James Packer has done business deals
with Damian Aspinall. No doubt Aspers would be most
welcome to accommodate the needs of casino whales,
in both an online and offline capacity. Aspinall Jr
has been spotted out and about with Australia's Elle
"The Body" MacPherson a number of times
over the past year, so Aspers wins points for that
alone.
Titan
Casino and Titan Poker both Playtech powered casinos
have also identified the Asia Pacific region as a
go ahead region for growth. Titan have come up with
some impressive and generous bonuses for signing up
at their online casino brands.
JackpotCity
and Lucky Nugget Online Casino, both part of the Belle
Rock Entertainment family, rose to prominence in Australia
last year with their promotion of blockbuster movie
hits, Tomb Raider and Hitman. JackpotCity is powered
by Microgaming, which incidentally is also the software
that powers Australia's Captain Cooks Casino. Captain
Cooks Casino is by all accounts a favorite with the
Aussies, so it looks like a battle of sorts may be
on the horizon for the patronage of players who prefer
Microgaming.
Casino
Club and Slots Club, both powered by Boss Media, proudly
have "Kangaroo Zoo" in their casino game
stable. In recent months they have added more games,
revamped the websites, and enhanced multi currency
options.
Euro
Partners, the European gaming powerhouse is embarking
on a campaign pushing forward their highly respect
casino brands into the Asia Pacific. Sources advise
to be watching out for Casino Tropez and Europa Casino,
to name but a few.
Virgin
Games maintains presence in Australia and their Transformers
online slot game is impossible to miss, thanks to
the blockbuster movie launch last month. Virgin looks
to have taken a page out of the Marvel Entertainment
book, pushing forward a traditional entertainment
brand. Marvel Entertainment is working on a Thor movie,
so one would expect the Thor slot game to enjoy some
renewed popularity. Virgin Casino top brass has recently
gone on record via the Virgin.com website portal about
the ups and downs of the online casino and igaming
industry. Virgin's Richard Branson has approximately
200 companies in a range of industry verticals, so
Virgin are certainly spreading their risk. Virgin
recently ceased their Pikum! brand, however they remain
one of the world's strongest and most respected brands.
Let us not forget that celebrated film producer and
director, Steven Spielberg has made a financial killing
in the gaming sector over the decades, however it's
his movie making that most of the world knows him
for.
PKR.com
have ramped up their progressive games and online
slot game offerings, so they can expect to see more
casino fans flocking to their casino, better known
for the 3D casino and online poker experience. PKR
are looking to continue their red hot streak in media,
building upon their recent promotions tied in with
the World Series of Poker, and are said to be sponsoring
a number of upcoming events including the Asian Poker
Tour, which is enjoying strong presence in Macau and
Philippines of late.
To
help cope with the current interest from the world's
igaming and gaming entities, Australia's Media Man
Australia, the media and publicity company, has ramped
up portal development operations and also plans to
launch more website portals including more for the
gaming sector. MMA's Casino News Media, Australian
Casino News and Classic Slots Online have been reporting
a rise in rankings in recent months, as they strive
to achieve Hitwise Australia top ten status. Media
Man director, Greg Tingle, reckons its online a matter
of time before Australian gaming figures, John "Singo"
Singleton and Gerry Harvey, make a major play into
Australian online gaming space, most certainly in
the horse racing sector. Pokies baron, Bruce Mathieson,
continues to do very well out of his pub pokies deal
with Woolworths and the like. Media Man Australia
is preparing a pitch to put to their connections at
TVS Channel 31 Community TV, and sees the igaming
and gaming sector as a new source of revenue for the
community media sector. The gaming sector is said
to be a significant source of revenue to fund Media
Man's philanthropic and community endeavours, so TVS
would do well to consider their pitch. Australia's
SBS are said to also be open to approaches on new
revenue streams, and ABC online has increased their
online gaming involvement, with an online "Grandstand's
Ultimate Ashes" game available, adding to their
"Good Game" offerings.
The
Australian government would be watching the igaming
developments unfold in the US and Europe, as the game
of skill vs games of chance debate continues. Now
many sports betting experts are arguing that sports
betting is largely a game of skill, following recent
court findings on poker. You can bet that the UFC
is watching this space closely and a number of sports
betting operations in the US are said to have broken
records with UFC 100, including BetUS.com, with the
Brock Lesnar fight being the prime money maker, both
for betting and Pay-Per-View buy rates. One can bet
that Sen Stephen Conroy's office would have now heard
of the upcoming motion picture staring Kevin Spacey,
'Casino Jack'. Spacey plays lobbyist Jack Abramoff,
known for his Indian casino connections and lobbying.
His career sees him land him in jail. Expect to hear
whispers about the movie by the Tabcorp and Crown
Casino fraternity.
Australia
has seen a number more incidents at bricks and mortar
hotels, pubs and casinos, so having a bet on the pokies
at an online casino may be even safer and more enjoyable
that one might have first thought. As always, take
note of the casino and brand names and reputation,
and gamblers are advised to know their limits, meaning
set a financial limit and stick to it. In addition,
gamblers are advised to ensure their gambling stays
enjoyable, and if it stops being fun, its most likely
time to stop. As the old Aussie term goes, Bet with
your head, not over it.
Our
friends at Gambling911, CAP, GPWA and eGaming Review
see the gaming and igaming industry as being one of
the world's most recession resistant industries, but
certainly not recession proof.
Certainly
mainstream press in Australia is starting to cover
the industry in more details, with regular coverage
being offered to the likes of PartyGaming, Joe Hachem
(PokerStars connection) and the World Series of Poker.
Whatever
side of the gaming, igaming and gambling sector you
look into, there's plenty of exciting developments,
be it technology advancements, legal developments
or just new games, as the industry does its best to
be a good corporate citizen and to do the right thing
by authorities, gaming regulators and players.

Australia
Gambling News: Reports on Playtech, Tabcorp, Bodog
- 15th March 2009
Our
man on the scene in Australia reports that business
is booming and everyone wants in on the burgeoning
online gambling industry. Even with news that certain
politicians are trying to block the Internet through
filtering systems (now deemed as a "failed attempt"),
few operators and affiliates of online gambling seem
at all concerned.
Playtech
Tingle,
who heads up Media
Man Australia and gaming offshoot, Casino News
Media, reports a rise in profits and has expanded
his online portfolio to 6 website portals (4 specifically
gaming), and thus far has managed to avoid the more
negative side of news, in an industry know for journalists
attacking their own. Tingle's background includes
5 years in journalism, with numerous leading news
stories to his name. In recent years Tingle's has
expanded on his early successes in the online gaming
b2b and publicity side of things, notably with Virgin
Games - Virgin Casino, PKR, JackpotCity and some hits
and misses with PokerListings. Tingle has just signed
up a major new client, William Hill, which is proving
to be a most profitable and go ahead venture, and
has also struck a considerable deal with the head
of Online Gambling Insider.
Tingle
advises that he's just putting the final finishing
touches on their Marvel Slots Online, ready to capitalize
on the recent Marvel Entertainment - Playtech deal
(Marvel slots were previously all but exclusive to
InterCasino). William Hill now runs off Playtech software,
so it stands to reason that a number of Marvel themed
slot games will soon be available under the William
Hill banner, and quite possible via other casinos
employing Playtech software.
PartyGaming
and their PartyCasino.com are expected to make more
announcements regarding the Playtech and Marvel happenings
in the near future industry insiders are saying, and
the industry awaits good news or bad news from InterCasino
and PartnerLogic, which have been effected by the
recent wunderkind deal involving Marvel Entertainment,
William Hill and Playtech. We will spare you the actual
figures and share prices of InterCasino, Marvel, William
Hill and Playtech, but InterCasino is looking down,
whist the outlook looks brighter for the latter.
Tabcorp
Holdings
Suffering
a very public major embarrassment, being stung with
a 12 million dollar dud cheque from a well known "chronic
gambler" (a former casino "whale" we
understand), Tabcorp appear to be spending up big
on PR. They are also looking for return on investment
of their 475 million revamp of their Star City Casino
in Sydney. Their casino chain which also includes
Conrad Jupiters on the Gold Coast has been not surprisingly
watching out for users of Apple ipod card counting
software, some of which is said to be going under
a name as "card shark"!
Bodog
Americas
and Canadian favorite online casino whipping boy,
Calvin Ayre of Bodog infamy is still M.I.A., but numerous
residences of his are up for sale in what must be
the "fire sale of the century". Bodog was
once one of the world's Hitwise and industry sector
"top ten" websites, but those days are clearly
ancient history, as will be his mansions if the squatters
are not removed soon. Tingle believes Bodog could
enjoy success in Australia, even with the "ghost
of Calvin" since his Playboy image would go over
well there. Bodog is expected to make some moves Down
Under in the coming year.

Gambling Heating Up in Australia - 6th February 2009
(Credit:
Gambling911.com)
The
online gambling industry is really starting to get
hot in Australia it seems.
The
land down under is seen as the land of opportunities,
but it is often forgotten by the folks up north. That's
not so much the case with the online gambling sector.
Last
month we watched with excitement as the Aussie Millions
Poker Tournament turned out yet another millionaire.
It's now among the most popular live tournaments in
the world today.
Many
of the world's top online casino brands have been
doing the ring around down under to see what media,
PR, spin and online exposure mileage they can secure
in the land known to be settled by convicts, back
in the days when Captain Cook set shore and 1000s
of Aboriginals were murdered in the progress.
Well
known media analyst and entrepreneur, Greg
Tingle of Media Man Australia is taking his
share of the phone calls and letters of enquiry.
"We're
been doing business with some some of the world's
top online casino brands for a number of years now...
Virgin Games, PKR, 888, WPT and Betfair. Recently
the amount of enquiries coming in has been huge,"
Tingle told Gambling911.com Friday. "We've locked
down business deals with PartyPartners, Slotland,
JackpotCity, The Bingo Affiliates, BetCruise, and
recently we joined our mates down the road here at
Bondi Beach... Rewards Affiliates.
"Captain
Cooks Casino has been hugely popular, but I haven't
figured out whether it's the Bondi Beach locals or
international whales coming to our region to check
out the bronzed Aussies. We were privileged to spearhead
the Ezybet sports betting media and publicity campaign
which attracted major Australian and international
interest."
Most
of the excitement centering around the Australian
sports betting sector has to do with deals being reached
with the NRL (National Rugby League).
"The
NRL (National Rugby League) is like a religion in
Australia, and punters love having a punt," said
Tingle. "The massive campaign was impossible
to miss, and sources at the NRL are even looking at
following some aspects of the TitansBet (Gold Coast
Titans) business model".
Tingle
also says, "There was also good interest by worldwide
online casino entities to penetrate Australia, but
the Ezybet exposure and worldwide story has really
lit a fire under the industry."
More
online casinos and poker sites will be entering the
Australian market in the coming months, Tingle advised.
Underbelly:
A Tale of Two Cities to Employ Gambling Theme - 12th
February 2009
Gambling911.com
has learned that upcoming episodes of Underbelly:
A Tale of Two Cities will feature "some casino
and gambling themes". The show's second season
was the highest rated launch in Australia's history.
George
Freeman, played by Peter O'Brien, ran a number of
Australian casinos (gambling houses... "with
no name" and unadvertised, sort of the opposite
of casinos to that of the James Packer's Crown Casino
(which is all above board and advertised, mainstream
and is legal etc).
As
we have come to learn, the world of casinos and bookmaking
in Australia is quite fascinating to say the least,
and this should play in superbly with the Underbelly:
A Tale of Two Cities theme.
Media
man, Greg Tingle
gives us a taste of the old school gambling lifestyle
in Australia:
"My
grandfather, Eric Fraser Cameron Tingle ran a SP bookmaker
operation from Newport Beach plant nursery which also
doubled as a barber shop... tripled as a SP hangout.
Today Newport Beach TAB is next door. A decade ago
I used to regularly have a punt at the TAB with the
late, great (and notorious) Big Time Bristow.
"I
caught up with Tim at his home at Newport, just around
the corner from my old home at Pittwater, 3 weeks
before Tim's unfortunate (and natural) death. I pointed
to Chris Master's book entitled 'Not for publication'
and the chapter entitled, Guilty Buildings'. I recalled
to Tim, ‘That's you isn't it Tim?' TB replied,
‘You nailed it in one Greg'. That's the scoop...
its never been published or put in the public domain
before."
