Australian sharemarket edged higher on Tuesday, with
the S&P/ASX 200 adding 0.023 per cent to close
at 8,793.3 points; the benchmark index rebounded from
an intra-day low of 8,733 points. NextDC was up 7.7%
per cent at $14.06, BHP advanced 1.3 per cent to $58.30
and Evolution Mining rose 5.6 per cent to $10.90.
However, Sonic Healthcare ended the session 2.6 per
cent lower at $21.12, Hub24 fell 4.2 per cent to $81.35

Entertainment has advised that its publishing division
will shed 30 jobs as part of a 'digital-first' strategy.
Nine's publishing boss Tory Maguire has told staff
that most of the job losses will be at metropolitan
mastheads 'The Age' and 'The Sydney Morning Herald',
while its print operations will also be affected;
Maguire indicated that the job cuts will be via both
voluntary and targeted redundancies. Nine's flagship
'The Australian Financial Review' will not be affected

AI platform weighed on local technology stocks, with
WiseTech Global falling 3.6 per cent to $33.71. Meanwhile,
Evolution Mining was down 2.1 per cent at $10.31 and
Webjet finished 1.3 per cent lower at $0.395. However,
the energy sector rallied after the resumption of
hosilities in the Middle East prompted a rise in the
crude oil price; Santos rose 2.1 per cent to $7.84.

Media has advised that the 12-month contract of broadcast
industry veteran Eddie McGuire will not be affected
by the cancellation of his radio show on Gold FM.
'The Long Weekend' was initially cost-hosted by Karl
Stefanovic when it was launched in June, but he was
sacked after just two episodes following a controversy
over his independent podcast, which also prompted
his removal as co-host of Nine's Today breakshow.
ARN decided to retain McGuire as the sole host of
'The Long Weekend', but it has announced that the
show will not continue. McGuire will instead host
