A Most Eventful Few Months For Boxing Promoters, Streamers/Broadcasters and Fight Fans

September 2025

TKO/Zuffa/Sela vs The World ... or collaborating with the combat sports world?!

TKO's/UFC's super-promoter Dana White has been notoriously vocal with his criticisms of the boxing biz world in the past, which makes his newfound involvement in the sport all the more motivating for a promoter as competitive as Eddie Hearn.

"I'm excited to cross swords with Dana," Hearn advised. "There will never be any disrespect, if I'm honest. You're never going to see me slagging him off or talking down about him. I'm excited by the challenge because I think it's a real challenge. I don't expect Dana and TKO to come into boxing and just sit in a corner and deliver some decent numbers for shareholders. I think they're going to want to have a presence and try and dominate the sport. It's the ego that they all are blessed with.

"It's good for me in many ways. ... If he really has ambitions to try and dominate the sport, it is going to be me and him duking it out. I don't think that's bad for boxing, honestly. He probably believes he can dominate boxing, dominate me, dominate everything. And I feel the same. So you've got two guys with a lot of ambition, with deep pockets and big egos. In a pleasant way, let a battle commence."

What may be a potential low blow for the sport, however, are TKO's ongoing attempts to circumvent the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, which has protected fighter rights (to a considerable degree) since its creation in 1999. The act is not perfect, as is the case with most rules/acts, or whatever you want to call it old sport.

Hearn has navigated boxing for decades with the Act in place and not batted much of an eye, so naturally he's dubious or even suspicious, of the intentions White and company have with the newly-introduced Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act, a TKO-backed bill which drew extensive criticism at a recent California State Athletic Commission meeting. The answer to that question, Hearn said, will provide clarity about Zuffa Boxing's future and intentions.

Eddie Hearn has some new competition in the boxing world.

This past weekend marked the first event of the long-awaited Zuffa Boxing era, helmed by UFC CEO Dana White and Saudi fight financier Turki Alalshikh. Terence "Bud" Crawford went toe-to-toe with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to cap off the historic night Saturday in Las Vegas, with Crawford winning a unanimous decision to become undisputed super middleweight champion.

The foray into boxing has been on White's mind for several years, though ultimately it took a partnership with Riyadh Season's Alalshikh to make the ambition a reality. As a result, White and Matchroom Boxing's Hearn have now become rivals of sorts. And while the two powerhouse promoters have long maintained a friendly relationship, things did appear to shift in the lead-up to Crawford vs. Alvarez.

"Our relationship's good," Hearn said of White on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "I've never had any kind of falling out with Dana. I can't stress enough the respect I have for him.

"But you can't expect me, a guy who is extremely competitive, to not want to roll up my sleeves and see who is the best in boxing, because I believe I am the best in boxing. We're the only global promotion company in the world, and I believe I'm head and shoulders above everybody as a promoter. Call that delusion, call that arrogance, or call that the truth. But that's what I truly believe."

White has been notoriously vocal with his criticisms of the boxing world in the past, which makes his newfound involvement in the sport all the more motivating for a promoter as competitive as Hearn.

What may be problematic for the sport, however, are TKO's ongoing attempts to circumvent the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, which has protected fighter rights since its creation in 1999.

Hearn has navigated boxing for decades with the Act in place and not batted much of an eye, so naturally he's dubious of the intentions White and company have with the newly-introduced Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act, a TKO-backed bill which drew extensive criticism at a recent California State Athletic Commission meeting. The answer to that question, Hearn said, will provide clarity about Zuffa Boxing's future and intentions.

"Why are you trying to get that Act changed or removed?" Hearn said. "The strange thing about that act is that on every [boxing] show, you have to declare to the fighters on the card the revenue of the event, which is quite unique.

"Clearly, there isn't really a problem with that in the boxing world because a significant proportion of the revenue is paid to the athletes. So maybe when there's a bigger TV deal [for TKO], the split of that revenue is not paid accordingly with the tradition of the industry, and I don't think they're going to go with the tradition of the industry. I think they will think that fighters are overpaid because [boxers] are in relation to the UFC and MMA talent."

White has already raised a few eyebrows within boxing circles in the lead-up to Crawford vs. Alvarez, boasting that he's promoted two of the three highest-selling gates in the sport's history between Saturday's event at Allegiant Stadium and the 2017 crossover spectacle between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.

While true, Hearn believes the claim to be a bit disingenuous.

"If you really want to come into boxing and call Mayweather-McGregor one of the biggest fights of all time, please. It was an exhibition. That's not a fight," Hearn said. "And by the way, Crawford-Canelo was not Dana White's fight. It was Turki Alalshikh's fight, and [White] was invited to be the promoter. Well done, well played.

"Let's not get it twisted. The work that Turki Alalshikh has done in boxing has paved the way for Canelo-Crawford. Without Turki Alalshikh, Canelo vs. Crawford never would have happened. In fact, it wouldn't have even been a fight that Dana White would have even considered or thought of making. So well done to Dana, well done to TKO. But let's give the credit of Canelo-Crawford to Turki Alalshikh, the man that truly paid up for the fight. The man that truly had the vision for two generational greats to meet in a ring. I didn't believe that fight could get made. He went out and made it."

The partnership between Alalshikh and TKO is an interesting one for Hearn, who's worked extensively alongside the Saudi money man. How will it continue to look? How much input do White and TKO actually have?

From Hearn's experience, the answer to the latter question might not be much.

"Working with Turki Alalshikh is a wild ride," Hearn said. "Dana works at a high level. Mark Shapiro, Nick Khan, all these people — they're very, very good at what they do. They're very smart, but they also like to do what they do and what they want to do. Turki Alalshikh, I'm just being straight, he doesn't really allow you to do what you want to do. He does what he wants to do, and you follow.

"I've learned over the years of working with him, your advice mainly falls on deaf ears. He's a very smart guy, and there's a method to the madness. But the traditional ways of going on sale through tickets or announcing the press conference or even announcing the fights, it's not the traditional way with him. And I think they're going to clash, but money's money, isn't it? It depends if you're prepared to keep your mouth quiet and do as you're told. I am. Are they? That's the difference for me."

All in all, Hearn believes everyone involved with this latest venture is smart, has good contacts and connections, and has the wisdom that guarantees them to succeed, at least to a certain degree.

Yet despite all White has laid out regarding his plans to take over the sport, Hearn isn't concerned with losing his position among the sport's promotional giants.

"I don't mean it disrespectfully when I say I think I'm on another level in boxing," Hearn said. "You can see that on the deliverance. When Dana does his UFC stuff, it's the same kind of passion that I probably have inside for boxing. I can't go into MMA and deliver it in the same way. Whether you think you've got a history in the sport, it's just not the same. It's 24/7, 365 days a year — live, breathe boxing.

"There's nothing I don't know about my fighters' careers. The opponents they've faced. BoxRec is the king of my browser. I've been sitting, watching, learning the sport for 40 years. It's just different."

TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of UFC and WWE, has been making significant moves in the boxing world, primarily through a partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh and Sela

Here’s a concise overview of the latest developments based on available information:

Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford: TKO Boxing’s debut event was initially set to feature this blockbuster fight on September 12, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, promoted by Dana White and Nick Khan. However, Turki Alalshikh later announced a change in promoters, with Sela taking over instead of TKO, and the fight was rescheduled to September 13, 2025, conflicting with a UFC pay-per-view event. This shift has raised questions about TKO’s role in the promotion, with reports suggesting a fallout between Alalshikh and Dana White. Recent posts on X indicate Nick Khan may have salvaged TKO’s involvement in this fight, though details remain unclear.TKO Boxing Plans: TKO aims to stage 12 boxing events annually for five years, including up to four “superfights” per year, with Saudi Arabia providing financial backing. The promotion, not officially named TKO Boxing, will operate separately from the superfight cards, with TKO handling logistics and media rights deals for a commission. A broadcast partner is yet to be confirmed, but Netflix is reportedly in talks for potential boxing and UFC content.Challenges and Competition: Veteran promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed skepticism about TKO’s ability to dominate boxing, citing the sport’s complexity compared to UFC’s model. Hearn believes established promoters like himself, Oscar De La Hoya, and Bob Arum will resist TKO’s influence. Additionally, the scheduling conflict with UFC’s Noche event and the promoter switch for Canelo-Crawford has sparked speculation about TKO’s boxing venture stability.Sentiment on X: Posts on X reflect mixed sentiments, with some users intrigued by TKO’s boxing move and others noting the challenges faced, particularly after the promoter change for Canelo-Crawford. There’s also mention of TKO signing fighters quietly, suggesting ongoing efforts despite setbacks.TKO’s boxing venture is ambitious but faces hurdles, including promoter disputes and competition from established boxing figures. The Canelo-Crawford fight remains a focal point, with its outcome likely setting the tone for TKO’s future in the sport.

Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.: This Saturday, Jake Paul faces former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a pay-per-view event. The fight card also features the return of boxing Hall of Famer Holly Holm, who takes on Yolanda Vega after a 12-year hiatus from boxing. Paul’s choice of Chavez Jr., a 39-year-old with a history of weight issues and inconsistent performances, has sparked debate about his legitimacy as a title challenger, though a win could see him ranked by the WBC and WBA, potentially setting up a world title shot in the next two years.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford: Tensions are high for their September 13, 2025, undisputed super-middleweight title clash in Las Vegas. Canelo recently shoved Crawford at a New York press conference, escalating their rivalry. Crawford, moving up from 154 to 168 pounds, claims he can hurt Canelo, while Canelo has questioned Crawford’s resume, calling it “manufactured” with no elite opponents. A knockout bonus has been added to ensure high action. Canelo is also slated to fight either Hamzah Sheeraz or Chris Eubank Jr. in February 2026.

Deontay Wilder’s Comeback: Wilder, who recently split with trainer Malik Scott, faces Tyrrell Herndon in a must-win PPV.com fight this weekend. His promoter, Nelson Lopez, hints at a tentative next fight and a potential third bout against Anthony Joshua if Wilder performs well. Wilder’s recent record (four losses in his last five fights) raises questions about his viability as a top contender.

Oleksandr Usyk Updates: Usyk, the undisputed heavyweight champion, has parted ways with long-time promoter Alex Krassyuk. He faces Daniel Dubois in a rematch on July 19, 2025, at Wembley Stadium, with Dubois vowing to inflict “damage” and potentially force Usyk into retirement.

ESPYS Nominations: Claressa Shields, Oleksandr Usyk, Katie Taylor, and Naoya Inoue are nominated for the 2025 ESPYS boxing category, notably snubbing Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

June 10, 2026

Recent developments in boxing involving Turki Alalshikh, a prominent Saudi Arabian boxing promoter and Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, include several notable events:

Teofimo Lopez Firing: In late May 2025, Turki Alalshikh reportedly sacked WBO and Ring Magazine super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez following Lopez's social media rants. Lopez claimed in a deleted X post that he was fired, indicating a fallout with Alalshikh. This stemmed from disputes over fight purses, with Lopez allegedly offered less for a potential bout against Devin Haney compared to an earlier offer for a fight against Jaron "Boots" Ennis. Lopez later publicly apologized to Alalshikh on X.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Chris Eubank Jr.: Alalshikh’s “wishlist” includes a confirmed fight between Canelo Alvarez and Chris Eubank Jr., as reported in early June 2025. This matchup is part of Alalshikh’s ongoing efforts to organize high-profile bouts.

Dana White and TKO Group Fallout: Alalshikh’s partnership with UFC CEO Dana White and TKO Group has faced challenges. Initially announced to promote the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight on September 13, 2025, Alalshikh later replaced TKO with Sela as the promoter, signaling a rift. This followed a broader fallout, with Alalshikh removing White from the Alvarez-Crawford promotion, highlighting tensions in their boxing venture.

Saudi Boxing Federation: On May 16, 2025, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal approved the formation of the Saudi Boxing Federation’s board, chaired by Turki bin Abdulmohsen Alalshikh. This move aims to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global boxing presence and develop the sport locally.

Controversial Comments: Alalshikh sparked controversy in early May 2025 during a podcast, suggesting boxing’s popularity would increase with a black heavyweight champion, referencing Muhammad Ali. This comment drew significant online discussion.

Failed Events and Criticism: Alalshikh’s “Fatal Fury” boxing events in early May 2025, including a Times Square card, were criticized for low output and lackluster fights, marking a rare misstep. Additionally, a planned Canelo Alvarez vs. Jake Paul fight was canceled, with Alalshikh’s influence cited as a factor in Alvarez’s decision to decline a $150 million purse.

Football Investment Rumors: Beyond boxing, Alalshikh has been linked to potential investments in English football clubs like Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday, though no deals have been finalized.

Alalshikh remains a polarizing figure, driving major boxing events while facing criticism for his business decisions and public statements. His influence continues to shape the sport, with upcoming fights and potential new ventures in the spotlight.

TERENCE CRAWFORD EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW | W.A.D.E Concept X The Ring

Teddy Atlas Gives PASSIONATE Prediction On Canelo Alvarez Vs. Terence Crawford

The Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford superfight for The Ring and undisputed super middleweight championship will take place Sept. 13 in Las Vegas and will streamed globally on Netflix at no additional cost to its 300 million-plus subscribers, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh announced Tuesday.

Alvarez, boxing’s top star, will defend his 168-pound crown against Crawford, a fellow future Hall of Famer who will climb two weight classes for the biggest challenge of his career.

“On Sept. 13, Canelo and Crawford, two legends of boxing, will finally compete against each other in the fight of the century,” Alalshikh said. “Alongside Dana White and Sela, we will deliver something truly incredible in Las Vegas for fans around the world to enjoy through Netflix.”

The three-city press tour for the Riyadh Season event will kick off Friday, June 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at Blvd City. That’s the site where Canelo and Crawford first faced off last month following Alvarez’s decision win over William Scull as Crawford watched from ringside.

The press tour will continue two days later on June 22 in New York at Fanatics Fest, where some of the biggest stars in sports will be joined by throngs of fans.

The press tour will wrap up on Friday, June 27 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Riyadh Season event will be promoted by Alalshikh and Sela alongside UFC president Dana White.

“Turki wants to make the biggest fights that the fans want to see in boxing and this is right up my alley,” said White. “Are you kidding me that the first boxing fight I’m going to get to promote is Canelo vs. Crawford? It’s literally a once in a lifetime fight. Live on Saturday, Sept. 13, streaming globally on Netflix, two of the greatest boxers in the sport will meet in a historic fight from Las Vegas.”

Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) is The Ring’s No. 8 pound-for-pound boxer and owns the Ring Magazine championship at 168 pounds. This will be the Mexican icon’s 10th defense of his Ring Magazine super middleweight championship.

“I’m super happy to be making history again and this time on a Riyadh Season Card that will be broadcast on Netflix,” said Alvarez, 34. “On Sept. 13, I’m ready to show once again that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”

Crawford, The Ring’s No. 3 pound-for-pound boxer, is currently The Ring’s No. 1 boxer at 154 pounds. The 37-year-old will move up two weight classes to challenge Alvarez. In his lone fight at 154 pounds, Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) defeated Israil Madrimov in August on a Riyadh Season Card to win the WBO junior middleweight title.

“My perfect record speaks for itself. I am the best fighter in the world and no matter the opponent or weight class, I have always come out on top,” Crawford said. “On Sept. 13, my hand will be raised once again as the world watches greatness.”

Dana White Makes TKO Boxing League Official

On March 5, Dana White, TKO, and Turki Alalshikh announced a new boxing promotion in association with Sela.

Alalshikh on record:

“This landmark partnership between industry powerhouses sets the stage for an unparalleled experience for boxers and fans,” Alalshikh said.

“Together, we are developing the next generation of talent and delivering world-class events at a time when the sport is primed for further disruption.”

TKO President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Shapiro also expressed optimism for the new boxing league.

“This is a strategic opportunity to reimagine the sport of boxing globally,” Shapiro said. “TKO has the deep expertise, promotional prowess, and longstanding relationships. HE Turki Alalshikh and Sela share our passion and vision for evolving the current model. Together, we can bring the sweet science back to its rightful place in the forefront of the global sports ecosystem.”

Rumors are circulating claiming that Callum Walsh will be one of the first fighters to sign with the TKO boxing promotion. Walsh appeared on camera at at least one TKO (WWE TV_event approx 3 months ago. It would make sense given that White has attended Walsh’s fights and has aired them on UFC Fight Pass. At this time, fighter signings have not been announced for the new league.

White told Ring Magazine that the UFC model will be used for the boxing promotion. He vowed to ensure that “the best fight the best.”

Dana White Quote To The Ring:

"Everybody knows the format - the best fight the best. You work your way up the rankings, and once somebody breaks into the top five [and] there is no question [about] who the best five guys are in each weight class, they fight it out. And once somebody holds that belt, you don't need three letters in front of the belt. Whoever has that belt is the best in the world in that weight class. It's a very simple model" Dana White

Dana White and Turki Alalshikh Plan New Boxing Venture

Dana White, President of UFC, alongside Turki Alalshikh, are in talks to launch a new boxing promotion under the TKO banner, potentially debuting in 2026. This initiative, while still in the discussion phase, aims to emulate the UFC's model by introducing a clear ranking system for boxers to advance towards world championships. The promotion might also leverage the UFC Performance Institute for training, aiming to nurture both established and up-and-coming boxers. The involvement of WWE President Nick Khan and companies like TKO, Endeavor, and Sela suggests a significant overhaul in how boxing championships are structured, with the goal to ensure top-tier matchups and elevate the sport. However, these plans remain speculative until officially confirmed. (Grok)

UFC open to ending the PPV model? Mark Shapiro hints at potential changes in UFC’s pay-per-view structure, emphasizing flexibility across platforms.??

March 4, 2024

"Yeah, it's interesting. I mean, certainly, life has changed on the PPV front. In the old days, the cable consortium and DirecTV were major platforms for PPV. Look, it works for us, but we are super flexible—linear broadcast, streaming, pay-per-view, or not PPV.

Remember, we own Fight Pass, which is our proprietary platform. It’s designed for the hardcore combat sports fan, featuring a lot of MMA, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, and karate. It’s a strong platform on its own, and we charge a monthly and annual fee. We like having it to ourselves; we like the proprietary nature of it. But, like you saw with the WWE Network years ago with Vince McMahon, if it makes sense to fold it into a larger deal, we're open to that too.

So, it’s still early stages. We want to be a good partner, we want to listen to everyone, we want to be prudent, we want to be patient—but we definitely want to explore all options so that we can bring our audience, our athletes, our fans, and our shareholders a maximized deal."

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano to Face Off in Historic All-Women’s Card

The trilogy bout at Madison Square Garden will stream live on Netflix on July 11.

By Amanda Richards

One historic feud, two indomitable champions, and a third fight that promises to be one of the most exciting rematches in boxing history: On March 6, Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix announced Taylor vs. Serrano 3, the highly anticipated trilogy bout between Ireland’s undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor (24–1, 6 KOs) and Brooklyn’s Puerto Rican unified featherweight world champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (47–3–1, 31 KOs).

The historic fight will stream live globally on Netflix on Friday, July 11, from Madison Square Garden in New York City — and just like the pair’s second go-round at Paul vs. Tyson, the fight will be available to watch live on Netflix at no additional cost to your subscription.

If news of the explosive rematch isn’t enough to prick up your ears, this is also history in the making: Taylor vs. Serrano 3 headlines the first-ever all-women’s professional boxing card at the iconic venue, as MVP keeps its commitment to elevating women in the sport.

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano’s rivalry explained:

Taylor vs. Serrano 3 will be the third chapter in one of boxing’s fiercest feuds — and the 108 million people who tuned in to Paul vs. Tyson in November will remember just how brutally this rivalry plays out in the ring: The fight for the undisputed super lightweight world championship was bloody and unrelenting, lasting 10 two-minute rounds, during which the pair opened old wounds — literally. In the end, Taylor retained her title after all three judges scored the bout 95–94 in her favor — a decision disputed by many of those watching at home.

Of course, Taylor vs. Serrano 2 wasn’t the pair’s first face-off. That was in April 2022, when they made history with the first women’s fight to headline Madison Square Garden, an event named Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year and The Ring’s Event of the Year. Taylor vs. Serrano 3 will take the pair back to where their rivalry began — with all of Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight belts once again on the line.

Katie Taylor on the July 11 rematch:

“I’m 2-0 against Amanda, but it’s obviously a very special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring, so I think it’s only right that we have the trilogy,” Taylor said. “The atmosphere for the first fight there was amazing, and I’m sure it won’t be any different this time around. The numbers that [the Paul vs. Tyson fight] got to were incredible, so hopefully those people will all want to tune in for the trilogy fight as well, and we can deliver another great fight.”

Amanda Serrano on the July 11 rematch:

“I promised my fans they would see this trilogy, and I’m incredibly grateful that we get to complete our journey where it all began — at Madison Square Garden, live on Netflix for the world to see,” Serrano told Netflix. “I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor did not keep her word and make the trilogy 12 three-minute rounds, equal to the men. This is a record-setting payday for both of us, and we owed it to the fans to honor the handshake deal we made. She didn’t. But make no mistake, every time we share the ring, it is war, and I know Friday, July 11, will be the greatest yet because I will finally get the official W I deserve.”

What’s the Taylor vs. Serrano 3 purse?

The MVP event underscores a groundbreaking commitment to women’s boxing — in part because it sets a new financial standard for female fighters. Taylor and Serrano will receive record-breaking purses, continuing to raise the bar as the highest-paid female fighters of all time.

“This is more than just a fight — it’s a celebration of the unmatched talent of women in boxing,” Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions, told Netflix. “This all-women’s card is not only a testament to how far the sport has come but also the beginning of an even greater push from MVP to elevate the next generation of female fighters.”

When is the date of the Taylor vs. Serrano 3 fight?

The fight will stream live on Netflix from Madison Square Garden on July 11.

Taylor vs. Serrano 3 Press Conference: Tensions Rise Ahead of July Showdown

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are gearing up for their third boxing match, scheduled for July 11 at Madison Square Garden and to be broadcast live on Netflix. The kick-off press conference was charged with intensity, highlighted by Serrano's symbolic gesture of wearing headgear, referencing headbutts from their previous encounters and igniting discussions on past fight outcomes and fairness. The debate over fight conditions, particularly the duration of rounds, was a focal point, with Taylor firmly advocating for the standard two-minute rounds. The verbal sparring was intense, with Taylor questioning the necessity of the trilogy while asserting her dominance, and Serrano emphasizing her historic status as the highest-paid female athlete in sports for this event. TKO Group Holdings ‘close on an agreement’ to boxing venture

"It’s the right strategic place for us to be."

February 28, 2025

The UFC’s ownership group are closing in on its long rumoured pivot to boxing.

For years, Dana White has referenced the possibility of a move into boxing but pulled back on several occasions citing institutional problems within the sport. While that initial venture, dubbed at one point Zuffa Boxing in reference to the UFC’s original ownership entity, never came to fruition, it appears as though the landscape has changed amid the UFC’s new economic reality as part of the TKO Group, which also counts the WWE among its assets.

Furthermore, boxing’s new money men in Saudi Arabia have changed the platform of the sport — and this is something that TKO appears to want a part of, after TKO’s president and chief operating officer Mark Shapiro confirmed that an agreement appears incoming for a Saudi-funded boxing league.

“Everybody knows we’re in talks with the Saudis but to give you a little more color, I will tell you that we are close on an agreement with the Saudis on a creation of a boxing league where we TKO would be the producer, the promoter and responsible for all day-to-day operations of the venture, where by we would receive a fee of $10 million plus,” Shapiro said during a Wednesday financial call with investors.

“Again, we’re not putting any money in, we’re not putting any capital in, we’re not on the hook for any [costs].”

Shapiro added: “We’ve just sent a delegation to London to meet with the Saudi delegation led by Andrew Schleimer, our CFO and Nick Khan, of course who runs WWE, and Lawrence Epstein who runs UFC,. They had a full day meeting earlier this week and we’re getting awfully close and when we have something official, we’ll come out.”

Shapiro also suggested that two high profile boxing cards might serve as the basis for the launch of the organisation, which he stressed TKO is insulated from financial loss.

He also stated that the knowledge capital within TKO, particularly Khan and White, means that the group has the ideal expertise for the venture.

“It’s thoughtful, it’s the right strategic place for us to be,” he said. “We have experts in Nick Khan and Dana White among others that can drive that business. We can be selective in terms of how we participate and whatever we do, we will not take risk and it will definitely be value accretive.”

The well hyped "Iron" Mike Tyson vs Jake "The Problem Child" Paul boxing match to be broadcast globally via Netflix will now take occur on Friday, November 15th after requiring a reschedule due to a recent Tyson medical issue.

The mega combat sports event will happen live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with the already announced Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano co-main event rematch.

The decision to reschedule was announced last week following Tyson suffering what was called ulcer complications after boarding a flight. It was stated that Tyson’s doctors instructed him to take it lighter on training for a period of time that caused concern, and rightly so, due to the timeframe in which the July 20th fight was originally set to take place.

The bout between the 58-year-old Tyson and the 27-year-old Paul was first announced in early-March. It will be Tyson’s first fight of any kind since a November 2020 exhibition boxing bout with Roy Jones Jr. which was preceded by a 15-year-gap of inactivity.

Jake's brother, Paul, had offered to sub (take the place) for Tyson a few weeks ago, and that winner would have to change their surname. The brainchild of "The Maverick" aka "Prime Heel" in hardcore pro wrestling circles, never materialized, but the Paul's always have an ace or two up their sleeves. Logan Paul is set to be high up on the WWE SummerSlam card on August 3 in Cleveland, Ohio. ..IO, right Mr Pat McAfee of WWE Raw fame and sports broadcasting and podcasting mastermind.

The upcoming match is forecast to be the biggest broadcast boxing match in modern history.

Mike Tyson - Jake Paul

The boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has drawn significant attention due to the unique pairing of a legendary former heavyweight champion, Tyson, with the YouTube-star-turned-boxer, Paul. Here's what you need to know based on the latest available information up to September 8, 2024:

Rescheduled Date: The fight was initially set for July 20, 2024, but was postponed due to a medical issue involving Mike Tyson. It has been rescheduled for November 15, 2024.

Venue: The bout will still take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which is known for being the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Streaming: The event will be streamed live on Netflix, marking one of Netflix's ventures into live sports events.

Fight Details: The match is sanctioned as a professional fight, not an exhibition, despite initial ambiguity. They will fight over eight two-minute rounds using 14-ounce gloves.

Background: Mike Tyson, at 57, is stepping back into the ring after his last professional fight in 2005, although he did have an exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. Jake Paul, much younger at 27, has been actively boxing since 2018, with a professional record of 9-1.

Health Issue: Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up which led to the postponement, ensuring he had adequate time to recover and train.

Public Interest: There's considerable intrigue around this fight due to the age difference, the blending of entertainment with professional boxing, and the question of how Paul's relatively new boxing skills will fare against Tyson's legendary prowess, albeit aged.

Additional Fights: The event card also includes a highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for the undisputed junior welterweight championship.

Viewing Information: For those interested in watching, the fight card will be exclusively available on Netflix, with no specific start time mentioned yet for the main event.

This match-up represents a crossover between different eras of boxing and entertainment, drawing eyes from both traditional boxing fans and those who follow Paul from his YouTube fame. (Grok)

NEW YORK, NY – June 18, 2024 – Today, MVP announced that international superstar Jake "El Gallo” Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) will return to the ring for "Fear No Man,” a cruiserweight battle against the incredibly dangerous bare knuckle champion boxer and MMA star "Platinum” Mike Perry (5-0, 3 KOs BKFC) on Saturday, July 20 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, live on DAZN pay-per-view. Paul vs. Perry will be an eight round cruiserweight bout, as Paul faces his most dangerous opponent to date and puts it all on the line in an incredibly risky fight against the baddest bare knuckle boxer of all time ahead of his bout with the Baddest Man on the Planet, Mike Tyson. Boxing trailblazer and unified featherweight champion Amanda "The Real Deal” Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs) will also return to the ring against Tampa, Florida's top-10 ranked IBF, WBO, and WBA talent and KO artist, Stevie "Sledgehammer” Morgan (14-1, 13 KOs) in the co-main event. Serrano vs. Morgan will be a super lightweight battle, contested over 10, two-minute rounds as Serrano aims to display her power at super lightweight against the powerful puncher, Morgan, ahead of her clash with Katie Taylor on Friday, November 15. Tickets for Paul vs. Perry and Serrano vs. Morgan at Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL will go on sale Wednesday, June 19th at 12pm ET on Ticketmaster.com.

"Fear No Man” is presented by CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy. The undercard will also feature the rematch of Crescent City, Florida's Tony Aguilar (12-0-1, 4 KOs) vs. Orlando, Florida's Corey "2Smoove" Marksman (9-0-1, 7 KOs) in an 8-round lightweight bout. Further undercard fights will be announced in the coming days.

Jake "El Gallo” Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) has shown tremendous growth as a boxer on his path to becoming a world champion, and now will face his most dangerous opponent to date, Mike Perry, on Saturday, July 20. Perry's formidable knockout power and fearless mentality will pose a true risk and test for Paul as the 27-year-old aims to prove he has what it takes in the ring against his second youngest opponent to date, the 32-year-old Perry, who is one of the world's most feared fighters and the baddest bare knuckle boxer of all time. Paul will nevertheless put it all on the line ahead of his bout against the Baddest Man on the Planet, Mike Tyson on Friday, November 15. Since turning pro in 2020, Paul has collected multiple accolades for his commitment to the sport of boxing, including ESPNRingside's 2021 Knockout of the Year, Sports Illustrated's 2021 Breakout Boxer of the Year, ESPNRingside's 2022 Viral Moment of the Year, and was the cover of Sports Illustrated's "The 50 Most Influential Figures in Sports” issue, awarded specifically for his groundbreaking work to revolutionize the sport through equitable pay, providing a platform for young fighters, and his support of female boxers. Paul also recently announced a partnership with USA Boxing ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, continuing his mission to elevate the sport and its future champions.

Since headlining his first fight, Paul has broken records at every arena he's fought at during his professional career, including his first fight at Tampa's Amalie Arena, Paul vs. Woodley II, which set the record for the highest combat sports gate in the arena's history. Paul now returns to challenge his own record at Amalie Arena.

"When Paul vs. Tyson was rescheduled, I knew immediately that I wanted to still fight on Saturday, July 20. Now, as I prepare for my fight against Iron Mike, there's no better opponent for me than Mike Perry,” said Jake Paul. "He's a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring. This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson. But getting that experience comes with risk. Those who know me know I'm a risk taker and while ‘Platinum' Perry might try to end me, I'm Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no man. I'm going to get the W and give everyone a preview of what I'm bringing to the ring against Mike Tyson. Tune in on DAZN PPV as I return to Tampa and send ‘Platinum' Perry the Platypus back to bare knuckle for good.”

"Platinum" Mike Perry (5-0, 3 KOs BKFC), one of the most dangerous fighters in combat sports, steps into the ring with Jake Paul following his fearsome career across the UFC, Triad Combat, and bare knuckle boxing. Following his 14-win career in the UFC, boasting 11 wins by knockout, Perry made his Triad Combat debut in November 2021, taking on 27-3, 21 KOs seasoned boxer Michael Seals, demonstrating his ability to handle power punchers and outworking Seals to a split decision victory in the bout. Less than three months later, Perry made his bare knuckle boxing debut with BKFC, securing his first win over Julian Lane in 2022, which he followed with a thrilling win over dynamic striker Michael "Venom” Page later that year. Perry's bout with former UFC champion Luke Rockhold in April 2023 ended decisively with a second-round knockout, highlighting Perry's striking power and relentless pressure from the opening bell. In his BKFC "King of Violence” title fight in December 2023 against Eddie Alvarez, the first-ever fighter to become a champion in both UFC and Bellator, Perry displayed his vicious power yet again with a second round TKO due to corner stoppage. Perry earned the 2023 Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship Male Fighter of the Year and in April 2024, he expanded his undefeated record to 5-0 with a first-round KO of UFC veteran Thiago Alves. The bout served as the latest testament to the power, tenacity and skill Perry will bring to the ring against Jake Paul on Saturday, July 20 for "Fear No Man”.

"Jake Paul claims he fears no man, but on Saturday, July 20, the world will see the truth: he just made the worst mistake of his life in trying to get through me before Iron Mike,” said Mike Perry. "I'm going to make it look easy on Saturday July 20th, and I'm going to teach Jake Paul the most he's ever learned about fighting."

Amanda Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs), the first-ever Puerto Rican undisputed world champion, started her current featherweight title reign by defeating Heather Hardy in a brutal 10-round fight in 2019 to win the WBO belt, and has since defended her WBO belt six times. Serrano offered Hardy redemption in August 2023, but successfully defended her undisputed featherweight world champion title for the first time in a decisive 10 round unanimous decision victory. Serrano also won a blood-soaked war against WBA featherweight champion Erika Cruz in February 2023, which made her the undisputed featherweight champion. Serrano's decisive win against Cruz followed her previous win over Sarah Mahfoud in Manchester, England that added the Dane's IBF title to her WBO, WBC, and IBO featherweight belts. Her historic clash against Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden in 2022 earned recognition as Sports Illustrated's Fight of the Year and The Ring's Event of the Year and was further nominated for Event of the Year by Sports Business Journal. Most recently, Serrano took home a unanimous decision victory against her mandatory WBO challenger Danila Ramos, making history in the first-ever women's unified world championship to be fought over 12, three-minute rounds, equal to any men's championship fight, and marking the first time a women's fight has gone the full 12x3. Serrano threw a career high of 1103 punches in the bout. In honor of her trailblazing achievements inside and outside the ring, Serrano was also recently awarded the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Female Fighter of the Year for 2023. Following her bout against Stevie Morgan on Saturday, July 20, Serrano is set to face Katie Taylor in the most anticipated women's boxing rematch in modern history, for the undisputed super lightweight women's championship. Taylor vs. Serrano will be the co-main event of the rescheduled Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson mega-event at AT&T Stadium on Friday, November 15.

"I've already been preparing for a fight on Saturday, July 20, and even though I'll now be waiting a little longer for my rematch with Katie Taylor, this is an opportunity for me to face another tough boxer in Stevie Morgan in Tampa,” said Amanda Serrano. "My opponent has 13 KOs, more than almost every other active female boxer, but I fear no woman – I embrace the war. I look forward to seeing all my Puerto Rican fans in Tampa for my 50th professional fight to show the world my skills at super lightweight, live on DAZN PPV.”

Stevie Morgan (14-1, 13 KOs), the 34-year-old 5'8” lightweight talent, has established herself as a formidable force in the boxing world. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Stevie was an athlete throughout her school years, excelling in track and field, basketball, and football. Her journey into boxing began just a year before her first amateur fight, under the guidance of coach John Cassella. As an amateur, Stevie quickly rose to prominence with around 40 fights and accolades such as Outstanding Female Boxer and Florida Golden Gloves Champion. Stevie made her professional debut on June 18, 2022, with Brandi Mccain's One One Six Promotions in Memphis, Tennessee. Under the expert training of Monyette Flowers at Flowers Boxing Lab, she has continued to build on her amateur success as a professional. Now in just her second year as a pro, she is currently ranked by the WBC and is in the top 10 of the IBF, WBO, and WBA world rankings.

"We've been training for an opportunity like this, and I want to give full respect to Amanda for all she has done in her career and for women's boxing,” said Stevie Morgan. "In this sport, though, in order to make a name, you have to take a name. I have 13 KOs and nothing will be sweeter than making Amanda Serrano number 14. Come fight night on Saturday, July 20 there will be fireworks!”

"The stakes are high for every single one of MVP's fighters stepping into the ring on Saturday, July 20. For Jake and Amanda, the pressure is on to emerge with a W against two very dangerous opponents in Mike Perry and Stevie Morgan,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of MVP. "Jake Paul is facing a monster in Mike Perry. Amanda Serrano is going in there with a fighter who has 13KOs in 15 fights. Nothing is a given for our two superstars. We also have an incredible lineup of undercard fights coming together, the first of which features highly talented lightweight prospects Aguilar vs. Marksman. This fight will see these young talents putting their undefeated records on the line and working to set a new precedent for hopeful title contenders in the sport. We are excited to return to Tampa and put on another heart racing night of fights.”

Joining the undercard will be a battle of two of boxing's up-and-coming lightweight prospects, Tony Aguilar (12-0-1, 4 KOs) vs. Corey Marksman (9-0-1, 7 KOs). The two were longtime amateur rivals before turning pro, and now look to secure Florida bragging rights during the bout. The 25-year-old Aguilar, a Crescent City, FL native, returns to the ring off his latest three thrilling fights on MVP's Most Valuable Prospects series, including his initial bout against Marksman on Most Valuable Prospects 5 in February 2024. He proudly represents his Mexican heritage in the ring, and is a relentlessly hard-working fighter who will look to keep the action high and his opponent guessing in his eagerly-anticipated rematch against Orlando, Florida's Marksman. In the pair's recent faceoff, the 23-year-old Marksman matched Aguilar's energy and met the challenge with his own aggression and power. Aguilar, promoted by boxing legend Christy Martin, and Marksman fittingly fought to a split draw, a decision each will look to right in their favor on Saturday, July 20 in their first major PPV appearances.

"It's great to have Jake Paul back on DAZN in another action packed, high risk fight,” said Jared Kass, SVP North America of DAZN. "With an unprecedented number of top-tier fights every year of DAZN, we are pleased to be adding another huge fight to our already packed summer schedule. Watch the fight exclusively live Saturday, July 20, only on DAZN PPV.”

Paul vs. Perry and Serrano vs. Morgan: "Fear No Man” is produced and marketed by MVP with Boxlab Promotions serving as the official licensed promoter and is distributed by DAZN pay-per–view. CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy, maker of lifestyle energy drink, is the exclusive energy drink sponsor of MVP. Additional information will be announced in the coming weeks.
