Senior Constable Matthew NIXON passed away following a lengthy battle with cancer on the 8 May, 2002 aged 28 years. Not only a devoted officer with approximately 8 years of Policing service performed in Newtown, Warren and Forster but a kind hearted and devoted family man who was very community focussed. Highly regarded throughout his life through his participation and great love of many sports including rugby league, triathlon, surf life saving and golf his passing has been a great loss to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. In his honour an annual golf day is held where money is raised for and donated to the Great Lakes Hospice and Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club. All donations are tax deductible.

In our endeavour for the greatest success and a profitable day we are calling on business houses to support our worthy cause with sponsorship. Sponsorship can be donated in many forms including;

- Sponsorship of individual holes @ $250.00 – Includes 2 playing positions on the day and allows company/corporate advertising to be displayed on your hole.

- Goods, including vouchers (For prizes, raffles and auction)

- Simply enter a team in what is guaranteed to be a good fun day.

- Cash donations.

All sponsors will receive promotional advertising throughout the day. The Golf Day will be a two man ambrose commencing with a shotgun start at 9am. BBQ lunch and raffle tickets are inclusive of the entry fee of $30.00 per player and drinks available on course. Following, a short formal presentation and auction of many items including sporting goods and memorabilia.
